A romance.
“How could you?” cried Amelia, as she clutched at her bosom, in untold agonies, of despair, “How could you kill him when I loved him so?”
“Because you are my wife” retorted Renato, who was feeling, similar excesses, of woe, “and I loved you, with all my heart, and yet you betrayed me, with my best friend. Oh! how can I bear this anguish?”
At that moment, Renato was taken away to prison, for murder, so Amelia never knew, whether he managed to bear his anguish or not, but she didn’t care, because he had wounded her, too deeply, for her to feel, antyhing but torture, at that moment. The other people on the stage, tried to grab her, to calm her pounding heart, but they could not, and Amelia, had no desire, to stay in this terrible place, where her heart, had been torn to shreds, so she ran away, and kept on running, until, her bosom heaving, with fatigue, as well as, with abject misery, she found a boat. Then she climbed on it, and hid in a cabin, and no-one found her, until five minutes later, when the person, who slept in the bed, happened to look under it, because his socks, had vanished, from the seclusion, of his bedroom, which now rocked gently, on the roaring waves.
“Wuh-wuh-wuh-wuh-wuh” stammered the man, for his name was Billy Budd, and he was a sailor, and he had a stammer. “Wuh-wuh-wuh-what are you duh-duh-duh-duh”
“I have ran away from my husband” declared Amelia, moving passionately, to attach, her hand to, her fevered brow, “he murdered my lover, in cold blood, and I fear, I can live no longer”.
“Nuh-nuh-nuh-nuh-no, you mustn’t die!” Billy ejaculated. “Your far to beauteous, and I’ve been waiting, my whole life, to find someone, like you. Let’s jump off, this gently rocking ship now, and swim, for our very lives”.
“But I cannot love you” moaned Amelia, her bosom heaving, despite herself. “I love Riccardo, whom my evil husband murdered, in cold blood, in front of, my very eyes, the shock will send me to my grave, I am certain, if my broken heart does not”.
“Duh-duh-duh-duh-don’t worry about that, my darling” entreated Billy, “and won’t you, before we go, tell me your name, so I can whisper it, as we lie in raptures, together?”
“My name, is Amelia” declaimed our heroine, “and what is yours, my lord?”
“Muh-muh-my name is Buh-buh-biilly Buh-budd” announced Billy, “and I’m not a lord, but I don’t mind, if you call me that.”
“Amelia Budd, how perfect!” cried Amelia, “why should someone so young and beateous as I languish in eternal torment when you could save me from my tragedies?”
“Thuh-thuh-thuh-then let’s leave this accursed place” decided Billy, and without, leaving any more time, to think deeply, on the matter, they raced to the decks, of the ship, and plunged down, into the icy depths, which was soon warmed, by their loving hearts.
“What shall we do, my love?” panted Amelia. “Die together in oceanic splendour, or swim for shore and live happily ever after?”
“Let’s swim, my darling,” proclaimed Billy, taking her hand, and they swam for it.
